WHO IS GOING TO BE THE WINNER
THE BIGGEST TECH COMPANIES TODAY ARE
GOOGLE ( ALPHABHET ) , MICROSOFT , FACEBOOK & AMAZON
I am not count Apple in this list because it is a essentially now a Smart Phone , Watch and Laptop Manufacturing company.
Amazon is included because it is a pure tech play and is replicating all businesses into it's tech model.
Now the question is
1) Who is the WINNER today ?
2) Who would be the biggest of them all in 10 years in terms of Market Capitalization ?
3) Who would be the biggest in terms of revenue and profits in 2020 , 2025 & 2030
4) Who all would remain in the business 30 years from now ?
If we look at their performance for the last five years
1) Who is the WINNER today ?
In terms of revenue if we look at the performance FACEBOOK is the clear winner having grown it's revenue by 5,4 followed by AMAZON which has grown by 2.23 times .
PROFITS
In terms of Profits also Facebook has been able to grow it's Net Profit Margin from 1 % to 37 % and overall profits from USD 53 Million to USD 10217 Million
Amazon has also turned positive marginally
Microsoft has stagnated and Google's Margin has also remained at same levels and the increase is only volume increase.
Looking at these the WINNER today is GOOGLE closely followed by FACEBOOK
3) Who would be the biggest in terms of revenue and profits in 2020 , 2025 & 2030
If we look at the Turnover numbers Amazon has the highest turnover and is growing at an average rate 25 % . And it's business model is not something which will slow down and therefore it can easily grow at the same rates
And the Net Profit Margins are going to improve with time as already evident from rise to 1.75 %.
Microsoft looks out of the race
Google has a sizeable topline growing at 20 % with a Net Profit also of 20 % but can this sustain is a question mark
Facebook has also grown very fast by 5 times in revenue and 2 times in profit and it's advantage is for any additional revenue the direct cost of ops is very minimal
Looking at all this if we extrapolate the revenue and profits for 2020 , 2025 & 2030
Amazon must be the number one in terms of Topline and Google must be the most profitable company
In terms of Market Capitalization Facebook enjoys the highest market cap in multiple of sales because of the growth in sales it is getting and also the margin.
The market cap of google is only 7 times its sales as compared to 15 times to Facebook
Looking at the growth in the Turnover of Facebook it might give a tight challenge to Amazon and Google to be the second company to hot the 1 Trillion mark.
But looks like AMAZON would win the race.
WHO WOULD REMAIN IN BUSINESS THIRTY YEARS FROM NOW
This is the most difficult part . There may be so many changes is technology , uses , preferences etc
Only companies which can evolve with time would be able to live that long and among these all of them are capable of doing that
The best howver is AMAZON and GOOGLE
