Union Pacific is the world's largest Railway Company followed by Central Japan and Western Japan in terms of Revenue
The highest growth in revenue during 2012 to 2016 has been registered by Caanadian National Railway in terms of percentage ( i.e. 21% ) and by Central Japan in terms of absolute numbers i.e. USD 2094 Million .
In terms of Gross Margin Canadian Pacific , Union Pacific and Canadian National are the three most profitable Railways and they have improved their margins by 6.8 , 8.7 and 8.1 percent over the 5 years .
In fact other than Norfolk all other Railways have improved their Gross Margins which shows the potential of Railway business. If we compare their margins with any other transport business they are much higher.
At Net Profit level Canadian National has the highest margin at 30 % followed by Union Pacific at 21.23 % and followed by Central Japan at 19.41% .
Central Japan has improved it's margin by 10.6 %.
On an Overall basis CENTRAL JAPAN has been the number one performed which has imprved its topline by USD 2 Billion and bottom line by USD 1.8 Billion which means 90 % of topline has resulted into profits.
Canadian Pacific is number 2 having improved its revenue by 0.5 Billion and profilts by 1.1 B but it is to be seen if the profits are sustainable.
